Very small backyard, so we designed a small "spool", not quite big enough to be called a
pool, but heated with jets to be able to call it a spa. Behind, there is a
contemporary fountain with large scupper wok pots spilling into the pool for sound effect
and drama.
Off to the right is a fireplace with seating to enjoy the sunsets. Opposite the pool closer
to the kitchen is a large bbq island and countertop for entertaining and grilling. Alot can
go in a small space! If its designed right.
This client shared her belief that sunsets were a sacred experience and why she wanted
water as an element to balance out the 'fire' of the sun. She also considers her fireplace
to be symbolic of the sun's energy coming back after the sun has set.

This design is on an unusual lot like Package #2, but the
client only needed the right rear area designed. She wanted a sacred garden and a sanctuary
where she could enjoy her herb and healing gardens, a meditation area, koi pond and meandering
paths connecting the spaces. This side of the yard is the wife's private retreat, while here
husband has the opposite side.

Properties that have existing features such as mature trees, lawns and pools can be
challenging. This property was a total hodge podge, a menagerie of plantings, annual
flowers and accessories that I redesigned and built new patio areas, new plantings and a
lot of demolition so that the end result was a professional look, while still keeping the
personalization by rearranging some of the accessories that the homeowner wanted to retain.

This lot is over an acre with the home sitting right in the
middle, so the garden area spaces wrap around the entire property. The central area in the
backyard is 45' lap pool with simple clean lines to not distract from the extensive desert
plantings all around the yard.

Here's another Sacred Garden make over. With a boring old style pool, we transformed a
rather small backyard into a tropical getaway with random flagstone, fireplace, bbq island,
sunken spa, waterfeature added to pool and covered patio roof extension. See pictures for the
resulting landscape.

A dry stream bed divides this property in the backyard, so we
created a patio area near the covered patio and created a natural boulder waterfeature and
sitting area. Across the bridge is a remodeld pool and expansive paver decking which leads to
the Yoga Patio, where the homeowner practices and teaches Yoga. Statuary including Buddha
and Kwan Yin were added to create an easter flavor and add to the Yoga experience
outdoors.

Small lots in a builder subdivision can often have unimaginable front yards, but here
we created a courtyard, sitting area featuring a bronze statue fountain which was of such
refined taste that we featured it so as to be very visible to the neighborhood and cars
driving by this corner lot. Backyard has an interactive "splash pad" where the kids play
on a surface that has vertical jets of water coming on at random intervals as an
alternative to a swimming pool.
